Report: Chip Kelly getting interest for offensive coordinator jobs

As NFL teams look to retool their staff, a former Eagles head coach has resurfaced among potential candidates.

According to NFL Insider Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, UCLA HC Chip Kelly is drawing interest for available offensive coordinator jobs.

Kelly, 60, served as an NFL head coach for four seasons following his prolific run at Oregon — a tumultuous three-year tenure in Philadelphia and a one-year stint in San Francisco.

The Eagles went 10-6 in each of Kelly’s first two seasons, winning the NFC East in his first year but missing the playoffs in his second.

Kelly’s high-octane offense became stale and predictable in 2015, leading to a 6-9 record and his abrupt exit from Philadelphia. The 49ers gave him a shot the following year, but Kelly was one-and-done after a 2-14 train-wreck season. Kelly returned to college in 2018, going 35-34 in six years with UCLA.

After a disheartening end to their season, the Eagles are likely to undergo changes at both coordinator positions.

Considering the destructive roster decisions Kelly made while in power (cutting DeSean Jackson in his prime for nothing, trading LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso, swapping Nick Foles for Sam Bradford, the failed DeMarco Murray experimemt), it’s safe to cross Philly off the list of possible destinations.
