Eagles’ Howie Roseman continues Philly’s recent dominance over Pittsburgh, snags Makai Lemon from Steelers’ grasp
The Philadelphia Eagles traded up to draft USC wideout Makai Lemon on Thursday night, marking the first time they have taken a wide receiver in the first round since DeVonta Smith back in 2021.
Before the trade, all signs pointed to Lemon landing with Pittsburgh at No. 21 overall. With Dallas on the clock at No. 20, Steelers brass reportedly hopped on the phone with Lemon to talk through the possibility of taking him.
Then Howie Roseman did what Howie Roseman does.
The Eagles traded up with Dallas, bunny-hopped Pittsburgh, and stole Lemon right out from under them. The best part is the Steelers were apparently so locked in on their call with Lemon that they had no idea the trade even happened.
By the time they hung up, it was too late.
Howie had already taken Lemon, and Pittsburgh was left scrambling.
Eagles hold the torch for the Flyers Thursday night, carrying out the Pittsburgh humiliation ritual on national television
It’s been a tough week for the Yinzers.
The Flyers are dragging them across the ice in the NHL postseason, holding a 3-0 series lead over the Penguins. And now, Pittsburgh is the victim of the latest Howie Roseman heist.
Must suck.
In the end, the Eagles got their guy. Not just that, they may have landed the best receiver in the entire draft class.
