West Virginia University upsets Kansas in Morgantown, could mean the Chiefs are doomed tonight against the Buffalo Bills

The West Virginia University Mountaineers took down No. 3 Kansas University in Morgantown last night 91-85, setting up an NFL playoff Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs to lose to the Buffalo Bills.

Mountaineer fans stormed the court last night following a 91-85 win against Kansas. With the win, WVU improved to 7-5 all-time against Kansas when playing in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Since WVU joined the Big 12, they’ve handed Kansas more road losses than any other team.

RaeQuan Battle scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds while teammate Pat Suemnick added a career-high 20 points in the upset victory.

It was the most points allowed this season by the No. 3 ranked Jayhawks while West Virginia has now beaten two straight ranked opponents while playing at home.

WVU upset win over Kansas could mean the Chiefs are doomed

The game also could have a direct impact on the AFC Divisional Round matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills tonight. As one Twitter user pointed out, when Kansas loses to WVU in Morgantown, the following day, the Chiefs lose in the NFL playoffs. 

January 19, 2019: Kansas loses at West Virginia. The Chiefs lose in the AFC Championship Game the next day. 

February 6, 2021: Kansas loses at West Virginia. The Chiefs lose in the Super Bowl the next day. 

January 20, 2024: Kansas loses at West Virginia…
