Report: Sean Desai getting fired probably means Nick Sirianni’s job is safe
On Sunday, news broke that the Philadelphia Eagles are firing defensive coordinator Sean Desai. More importantly, it was reported that Nick Sirianni was the one who pulled the trigger, not Howie Roseman or Jeffrey Lurie.

Sirianni being the one to fire Desai is obviously notable. The Eagles head coach is squarely on the hot seat, at least in the eyes of the fans. He met with Lurie on Friday, and while no official word of Sirianni’s job has been announced or leaked, this seems like the organization’s way of saying Sirianni is staying.
After the initial report of Sean Desai’s firing, it was noted by several sources that Matt Patricia was soon to follow. It was also mentioned that Lurie was “intrigued” by Sirianni’s plan for next year and beyond.
What Sirianni could have told Lurie during their meeting is anyone’s guess. A handful of players, including Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce, came out in support of their head coach following their loss last Monday night. There’s no doubt that helped Sirianni’s cause – at least for the time being.
No press conference has been scheduled for Lurie and Roseman yet, but we’ll likely hear from the duo sometime this week. Then, maybe we’ll get some real answers on all the speculation surrounding the team.
