LeBron and Bronny James hit social media to congratulate Joel Embiid on his 70-point masterclass against the Spurs
LeBron James and his son Bronny James both chimed in on social media following Joel Embiid’s historic 70-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs last night.
For those who are foolish enough to not be watching what Joel Embiid is doing on a basketball court this season, Embiid went nuclear last night in South Philly. The best basketball player on Planet Earth dropped 70 POINTS in a single basketball game against the Spurs, shattering franchise and NBA records in the process (pun intended).
Embiid scored the first 70-point game in the Philadelphia 76ers’ 75-season franchise history, breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 68 points, set on December 16, 1967 in a game against Chicago. He also became the first player with 70+ pts & 15+ rebounds in a game since Wilt did it in 1963. He is the 9th player in NBA HISTORY to score 70+ points.
Of course, that had the NBA World buzzing. Kevin Durant, who hit a game-winning buzzer beater to lift the Suns over the Chicago Bulls took the podium postgame and was in awe of Embiid’s performance.
NBA players from around the league chimed in on social media, congratulating Embiid on a stellar performance. Most notably was the James family with both LeBron and his son Bronny sending praise to The Process via Twitter.
LeBron James: ’70 Piece Nugget [Joel Embiid] CRAZY’
Bronny James: 70 Piece [Joel Embiid]
JOEL EMBIID: 70 PTS | 18 REB | 5 AST
Honestly, it’s hard to put into perspective what Joel Embiid is doing this season on the basketball court but rally, the best evidence of how historic it is right there in the numbers. Today is January 23, 2024 and Joel Embiid is currently averaging 36.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game with a 65.1% true scoring percentage.
This is absolutely insane.

LeBron James has been on record stating that he wants to play in the NBA with his son Bronny, who’s currently hooping in the NCAA for the USC Men’s Basketball Team. If Embiid keeps turning heads and the Philadelphia 76ers have the money and draft picks to make it happen, we could see the James family in Philly as early as next season.
Unlikely for sure, but Embiid somehow being better than last year’s MVP Award-winning season was too. Really makes ya think, right?
