Doc Rivers emerges as frontrunner for Milwaukee Bucks vacant head coaching position

After just 43 games on the job and a 30-13 record to show for it, the Milwaukee Bucks fired head coach Adrian Griffin. Doc Rivers, hilariously, seems to be the frontrunner to take over.

Although it was originally reported that the Bucks officially hired Rivers Tuesday night, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski says that nothing is official just yet, but that Doc Rivers is the leading candidate at the moment.

Firing a head coach in this fashion is not uncommon in the NBA; especially when you have two superstars who have championship aspirations. But it’s undeniably ironic that in the Bucks’ eyes, Doc Rivers is the guy that’ll elevate their team and take them to the promised land.

We all saw what he was all about here in Philly. He’s not a championship head coach; hasn’t been for over a decade now. If anything, this hire would only elevate the Sixers chances at actually making serious noise in the postseason this year – which is just the cherry on top.

More than likely, we’ll get a resolution on this decision before the week is over.
