WATCH: Nick Castellanos rocked a home run so deep his son/batboy Liam forgot to grab the bat
Phillies Spring Training is in full swing, and the highlights have already begun rolling in. Nick Castellanos left his mark against the Twins with a towering deep shot that left the BayCare Ballpark almost stunned silent. Almost.
Nick Castellanos went yard so deep that his son Liam, serving as the batboy this weekend, forgot to come out and grab the bat:

Casty had to let his boy know he was derelict in his duties. The Phillies may be a family business, but it’s a family business nonetheless, and he had to uphold the proper standards even though his son was involved. That’s strong parenting if I’ve ever seen it.
Liam has quickly become a Phillies celebrity, so fans were obviously thrilled to see him in the dugout assuming batboy duties for the weekend. Clearly it brought some good juju, because Nick absolutely hammered that ball.
Honestly though, that’s a bit of a rookie mistake from the kid. I imagine he’ll tighten it up, though, depending on how many more starts he gets at BB.
I get that Spring Training games don’t matter. Hell, we at TLL hold the position that baseball pre-June 1 is meaningless in terms of the outcome of the season. But it’s an encouraging sign to see Nick Castellanos mash one, regardless of who he’s facing or the stakes involved.
