WATCH: Arkansas true freshman catcher Ryder Helfrick destroys home run in first SEC at-bat, Razorbacks beat Auburn 6-5

Arkansas true freshman catcher Ryder Helfrick entered the game as a defensive replacement in the Razorbacks’ friday night game against the Auburn Tigers, but his performance at the plate made him go viral across social media.

In the top of the ninth inning with the Razorbacks and Tigers knotted up at 5-5, Helfrick stepped up to the plate in his first career SEC at-bat and hit an absolute NUKE, crushing a 90mph fastball more than 400 feet over the 37-foot left field wall at Plainsman Park in Auburn, Alabama. 

Helfrick’s nuke gave the Razorbacks a 6-5 lead in the 9th inning and immediately went viral across social media platforms.

On top of that, Helfrick also threw out Auburn’s leadoff hitter at second base the inning before in the bottom of the eighth.

The Razorbacks sealed a 6-5 victory with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth. 

Arkansas (19-2, 5-0 SEC) won their 15th consecutive game and took the series from the Tigers (14-8, 0-5). They will go for the series sweep against Auburn today at 2pm.
