Eagles Draft: PFF sees Philly snagging standout Alabama cornerback in recent mock draft
It feels like beating a dead horse at this point, but we all know what the Eagles biggest need is heading into this year’s NFL Draft. It’s cornerback, and then there’s everything else.
There’s an argument for safety, linebacker, or even interior offensive line, but the value of those positions aren’t on the same level as corner. The Eagles had one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL last season, ranking 31st in passing yards per game, while allowing 31 touchdowns and intercepting just nine passes. Pretty brutal.
In Pro Football Focus‘ most recent mock draft, they see the Eagles attempting to fix these coverage woes, snagging Alabama CB Terrion Arnold.
PFF on the Eagles potentially selecting Arnold:
The Eagles’ disappointing 2023 season can mostly be attributed to coverage woes. They finished with the fifth-worst coverage grade in the league (57.3).
Arnold would add some much-needed youth to Philadelphia’s cornerback room, which features two aging veterans in Darius Slay and James Bradberry. He has top-tier athletic traits for the position and had a major breakout year in 2023, finishing with the fifth-highest PFF grade among Power Five cornerbacks (88.4).

Philadelphia hasn’t taken a cornerback in the first-round since Lito Sheppard all the way back in 2002. There’s no time like the present to buck that trend — for obvious reasons.
I’d be fine with taking Arnold here, but if I was Howie Roseman, I’d really love to get my hands on Iowa’s Cooper DeJean. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see how it all plays out.
