“I have kind of heard different things that—whether it is preliminary discussions—they are thinking about a new contract for A.J. Brown. Not trading A.J. Brown, they’re thinking about an extension for A.J. Brown. … They’ve already started some conversation with A.J. Brown’s agent about an extension.” – Howard Eskin
Brown is set to become a free agent in 2027 after signing a four-year, $100 million contract extension in 2022.
After spending his first three seasons in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, Brown was traded to Philadelphia on draft night in 2022. So, it’s pretty fitting that this news is coming out just a few years later on the same day on the NFL calendar.
Considering Brown’s significant role in the team’s offense and his age only being 26, it’s understandable that the Eagles are aiming to secure him with a lengthy contract extension, possibly including a pay increase.
In a related move, the Eagles recently inked a three-year, $75 million extension for their other star wide receiver, DeVonta Smith. This extension aligns with the average yearly value of Brown’s contract, which is $25 million.
Brown’s upcoming contract is likely to be around the $30 million per year that St. Brown is slated to receive. If the Eagles are willing to meet or exceed that figure, they’ll secure their wide receiver tandem for the foreseeable future.
