Eagles draft LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr., continuing his father’s legacy in Philadelphia

Former Eagles LB Jeremiah Trotter is forever remembered as an all-time great, and his son will have a chance to continue the legacy in the same city.

With the No. 155 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Eagles have selected LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr. out of Clemson.

“Jeremiah Trotter Jr. enters the NFL Draft after a well-decorated career at Clemson. Trotter Jr. stamped himself as a defensive playmaker, recording 202 tackles, 29.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 13 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and four interceptions (including two returned for touchdowns).

Trotter Jr. is a high-instinct player who uses this trait to make plays in both the run game and pass coverage.”

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. recorded 202 tackles (29.5 tackles for loss), 13 sacks, and 13 pass breakups in his four years at Clemson. He’s the only FBS player with 5+ sacks and 2+ interceptions in each of the past two seasons and could be a foundational piece for Philly’s defense.

Questions about his athleticism dropped Trotter’s draft stock, but his football IQ and obvious bloodlines more than make up for his physical limitations.

His father, Jeremiah Trotter Sr., spent eight seasons with the Eagles during the 2000s. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2000, a four-time Pro Bowler, and one of the most feared men in Jim Johnson’s defense.

Philadelphia’s starting linebackers from their Super Bowl run in 2022, TJ Edwards and Kyzir White, both walked in free agency last year. Second-year player Nakobe Dean was the next man up but suffered multiple foot injuries throughout the year.

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. should have ample opportunity to carve out a role in 2024.
