Eagles select Michigan’s offensive guard Trevor Keegan in the 5th round of the NFL Draft
Howie’s masterclass in the 2024 draft continues with the selection of Trevor Keegan, a six-foot-five, 310-pound guard out of Michigan. The Eagles took three players in the fifth round of the draft, ending with Trevor Keegan with compensatory pick 172.
OG Trevor Keegan – Round 5, Pick 172
Trevor Keegan brings a ton of experience, football intelligence, and athleticism to the Eagles’ line after his 5.24-second 40-yard dash. Keegan covers ground and plays with good pad level when smashing defenders at the second level. The captain of Michigan’s national championship team did not allow a sack in 383 pass-block snaps last season. Since 2021, PFF has attributed only 3 sacks to Trevor Keegan in 994 total pass-block snaps.
Critics point to his 32 3/8” arms, which rank below the 25th percentile at his position. That can cause him problems if he gets locked up with a quick interior defender, but his vision and understanding of when to pass off blocks in pass protection—that and his patience not to lunge at defenders—stood out on film.
Trevor Keegan excelled in Michigan’s zone running scheme, and his experience brings Day One depth to the Eagles’ offensive line. If he can add more muscle to his frame, there will be headlines about a positional battle at right guard with Tyler Steen. Not to mention, the dude would be an absolute blast for any future Eagles’ Super Bowl parades.
