Anyone who believes that Caitlin Clark would beat Cooper DeJean in a 1-on-1 basketball game is either lying or looking for engagement on social media

Before the NFL Draft, a media member asked Cooper DeJean if he would be able to beat fellow Hawkeye and women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark in a game 1-on-1.

The obvious answer is yes and DeJean to his credit, answered the question head-on, saying that he could “thinks he could” and that while Clark “might score a few buckets on him” he could “pull it off”.

“A lot of teams have asked me if I could beat Caitlin Clark in a one-on-one, just being from Iowa,” DeJean told Yahoo Sports Wednesday ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. “I said, I think I can. She’d probably score a few buckets on me, but I think I could pull it off.” [Yahoo Sports]

Honestly, I think Cooper DeJean was simply being polite and if the reporter was seriously asking this question expecting any answer different than “yes” then they should be fired immediately. Actually now that I think about it, if the reporter was asking this question just to drive engagement and create a headline, they should be fired for that too.

Point being – the question itself is beyond stupid.

To be Clear: Cooper DeJean would 100% beat Caitlin Clark in a game of 1-on-1 and honestly, it wouldn’t even be close. Trust me, that’s no disrespect to Caitlin Clark who just finished her finished her senior season at Iowa as the highest-scoring player in college basketball, men’s or women’s, with 3,951 career points – en route to being the WNBA’s No. 1 overall draft pick on April 15th.

Unfortunately for Clark, Cooper DeJean is an All-American cornerback and was just drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was an All-Iowa High School Athlete and is 6’1”, 207 pounds that ran a 4.42 40-yard dash at his Iowa Pro Day with a 38.5-inch vertical leap.

As an all-state sprinter in Iowa as a high schooler, DeJean ran a sub-4.5-second 40-yard dash and a 10-foot broad jump according to several media reports.

There are countless examples of men absolutely destroying women in sports. The writing is on the wall and I shouldn’t really have to go into more detail about it. I probably said too much already and will almost certainly have the brain-dead wing of the internet telling me I’m being “sexist” or a “misogynist” but that’s not the case at all.

Again, this has nothing to do with Caitlin Clark and it’s certainly not a knock on how she is in the midst of elevating women’s basketball and the WNBA in general to new heights of attention the world has never seen before.
