Report: 76ers interested in re-signing three key players

The 76ers have a pivotal offseason ahead of them. Although President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey plans to target several free-agent stars, the team is also hoping to retain key players.

According to the Philly Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, veterans Nic Batum, Kyle Lowry, and Kelly Oubre Jr. are the players the 76ers would like to re-sign most this offseason

The Sixers signed Oubre to a one-year contract during the free agency last summer. The 28-year-old averaged 15.4 points on 44% shooting over 68 games.

Should Philadelphia sign a third player to a maximum deal, Pompey notes Oubre would have to sign a contract that would likely cost between $6M and $8M.

In October of last year, the 76ers acquired Batum from the Clippers as part of the James Harden trade. In 57 games in Philadelphia, the 35-year-old averaged 5.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while playing excellent defense.

After being traded by the Heat to the Charlotte Hornets in February in the Terry Rozier deal, Lowry signed with his hometown Sixers once the Hornets bought him out. In 23 games with the team, the 38-year-old averaged 8.0 points and 4.6 assists.

Daryl Morey stated in May that the team hopes to recruit a star wing this offseason to complement Embiid and Maxey. Philly is allegedly interested in reuniting with Miami Heat veteran Jimmy Butler and has made Clippers forward Paul George its top objective in free agency.

The organization is also monitoring Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.
