The Ultimate Redemption: Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki crushes grand slam after botching routine fly that allowed the Reds to score 3 runs
Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki put fans on an emotional roller coaster last night during a National League Central showdown against the Cincinnati Reds.
With Reds’ catcher Luke Maile at the plate with the bases loaded and two outs against Cubs’ pitcher Justin Steele, Suzuki dropped what should have been a routine fly ball to right field after waving off Pete Crow-Armstrong.Â
The Japanese slugger botched the catch, allowing three unearned runs to score.Â

The routine fly dropped by Seiya Suzuki obviously pissed off Chicago Cubs fans…temporarily.
In his chance at total redemption, Suzuki stepped up to the plate with two outs and a 3-2 count with his team now tailing 4-0 and absolutely destroyed a GRAND SLAM to even the game.Â

Holy hell. I don’t think Hollywood could have scripted anything better than that, right?
Chicago got a much needed 7-5 win over the Reds last night to improve to 29-30 on the season. The Cubs have been absolutely miserable as of late and have lost eight out of their last 10 games but remain in second place in the NL Central, trailing the Milwaukee Brewers by 6.5 games.Â
