Kevin Durant defended the Philadelphia Union on Twitter after horrible loss to a 9-man Inter Miami team at home on Saturday night

Inter Miami were down to just nine men but still managed to beat the Philadelphia Union.

The Union were playing without Julian Carranza following the news that Philadelphia agreed to terms for the sale of their goal-focused striker to Feyenoord in Rotterdam. Inter Miami was playing without Lionel Messi and was down to just nine men available but allowed a backbreaking goal in the second-half stoppage time to drop all three points at home.

The Union struck first with Jakob Glesnes finding Michael Uhre dashing behind Inter Miami’s defense to take a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match.

From there, things just didn’t go the Union’s way for the rest of the night. Alejandro Bedoya and Quinn Sullivan both had perfect opportunities to extend the Union’s lead but fell short.

Inter Miami was a dealt a red card in the 65th minute after David Ruiz drew his second yellow card of the night. Inter Miami suffered their second yellow card to another player after sending off Thomas Aviles in the 85th minute, but the Union somehow still managed to blow it.

In extra-stoppage time, Leo Alfonso found the back of the net to give Inter Miami a soul crushing victory against the Union on the road.

Following the match, minority owner Kevin Durant came to the team’s defense on Twitter, tweeting and deleting after the Union’s loss to nine-man Inter Miami.

The Union, who continue to struggle this year are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference (20 PTS) and just 4-8-5 on the season. After Ron Kaiser called the Union a “major disappointment” while also taking a shot at Durant – KD came to their defense in a series of now-deleted tweets.

Listen I have no idea who Ron Kaiser is but when you reference calling into 94.1 WIP as some type of way to get the “truth” out about the Philadelphia Union – who have all of their games on 97.5 The Fanatic, then you pretty much drop any credibility.

On top of that, it’s not like anyone over at WIP or really, The Fantatic, even follow the Union anyways so what are we doing here? Plus, Kevin Durant is just a minority owner, so holding him accountable for the Union’s struggles this season is pretty stupid anyways.

I would like to say that Kevin Durant should have more input on the Philadelphia Union and this summer, he has the perfect opportunity to demand a trade to the 76ers – which I think we can all agree would be the best possible outcome for both soccer and basketball here in the city of Brotherly Love.
