Slow News Day: People are upset with 94.1 WIP Jack Fritz after he lost a bet and had to do Eagles chants at the Phillies game yesterday
You know it’s a slow news day when people are mad about 94.1 WIP Jack Fritz fulfilling his punishment on a lost bet by starting an Eagles chat at the Phillies game yesterday. I mean hell, WIP themselves won’t shut up about it.
It’s the only thing they have been talking about all day on the radio today. On top of that, people who I really think just weren’t a part of the story or knew what was happening are really pissed about it too.
Honestly, I’m a big fan of Fritz and no, I’m not just saying that because I know there’s a good chance he’s going to “like” this on Twitter.
Guy loves the Phillies and the High Hopes Pod is probably the only good one out there. He’s really the only person at WIP that I can tolerate – which I know isn’t saying much.
Here’s what I didn’t like about the whole thing.
So basically Fritz said that Phillies’ fans wouldn’t cheer for Rhys Hoskins if he hits a home run when he returned to Citizens Bank Park with the Brewers.
Fritz, buddy, you should know better. These fans gave career .300 hitter Trea Turner a standing ovation after a slow start to the 2023 season. While I agree with you that they definitely shouldn’t have cheered for the home run, it was almost inevitable.
Anyways, after Rhys Hoskins did in fact, hit a home run 94.1 WIP went through an entire bit that Jack Fritz would have to resign from the network that didn’t really “hit” because everyone knew it was complete bullshit to begin with.
From there, they decided that Fritz could “return” to the station but would have to fulfill a “punishment” handed out based on voting from people on Twitter.
Jack Fritz Punishment: Eagles Chants at Phillies Game
Note: The options weren’t great but again, that was expected from the creative minds over at 94.1 WIP.
- Eagles Chant at Phillies Game
- Mustache & Soul Patch
- Read the speed
- Name off the show
No clue what the speech was and also really don’t think having a facial hair change for a guy who’s on the radio and podcast would have done much either. So the only two options would be Name Off The Show or Eagles Chants at Phils.
Listeners of WIP didn’t do Fritz any favors. I wouldn’t want my name next to Spike Eskins so that option would be a “too nice.” The one that I guess was first in voting at the time was Eagles Chant at a Phillies game.
Again, not the greatest punishment given the fact that this happens literally all of the time. The “E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES” chant in my opinion, is more of a citywide, Philadelphia chant than just a football chat.
Do I do it when it’s happening at Phillies games? Of course not. Not because I am against it, just because it’s not really my cup of tea. I typically only do the chat after a touchdown at an Eagles game or maybe at a tailgate depending on alcohol intake.
Anyways, Fritz did that yesterday at Citizens Bank Park during the afternoon game against the Padres. It really should have been done at a night game so we could get brutally honest feedback from the people in attendance but whatever.
Jack Fritz Eagles Chants at a Phillies game
Honestly, the biggest issue here is Jack Fritz wearing those sandals out in public and/or at a sporting event. Nasty stuff. Citizens Bank Park is great but you can’t be walking around the friendly confines with the toes out. Bad move.
The chant itself wasn’t bad. I would have had Fritz on the Eagles Cocaine they just pulled out of the water 7 miles off the coast of Florida to kick it up a notch – but overall there’s nothing to complain about there. For those questioning the “E” – it’s always long and drawn out for the chant. Any other way is simply incorrect.
As for the “bit” I really have no issue with it. People on social media weren’t too happy about it but I think the majority of them didn’t understand the bet? Maybe? I have no idea. It was a total of like 20 seconds at most.
There’s a million things to be mad at 94.1 WIP about but this isn’t one of them.
