Rent Free: Boston Celtics fan attempts ‘gotcha’ moment on 76ers’ Joel Embiid during championship parade, fails miserably
A Boston Celtics fan who apparently would rather (attempt) troll Joel Embiid than enjoy a championship for the first time in over a decade, showed up to the parade with a dumb sign referencing the amount of rings Embiid won compared to Jayson Tatum’s 6-year old son, Deuce.
After reading the opening sentence above, I’m sure you already realize how dumb that comparison is so here’s the sign and then we’ll get into it.
Swing and Miss: Boston Celtics fan attempts to troll Joel Embiid at Championship Parade
Boston fans have never been considered the brightest bunch. It’s honestly sad how pathetic they have become while their sports teams continue to win championships.
Could you imagine being on the Celtics, enjoying an achievement of a lifetime by winning the NBA Finals, and your brainless fanbase is worried about Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers?
AND the way they attempt to troll Embiid is by saying that Jayson Tatum’s 6-year old son has “more rings” than him?
Boston. Be Better. This is embarrassing.
One More Time for the People in the Back: Deuce is the son of Jayson Tatum. He has a total of ZERO rings and is just 6-years old.
Leave it to Boston to be thinking about Joel Embiid during a parade that’s celebrating the only relevant moment from the Celtics in over a decade – which basketball fans across the NBA considered to be one of the most boring, “aura-less” titles in the history of the game.
If they add the phrase “Rent Free” to the dictionary, then this sign should be the featured image. Why anyone would be at a parade thinking about the Philadelphia 76ers and more specifically, Joel Embiid is beyond me.
The Celtics didn’t even play the 76ers in the playoffs and if anything, they should be thanking Joel Embiid for having surgery and missing significant time during the regular season before yet again, playing visibly injured in the playoffs.
They should also thank Giannis, Dame, and Doc Rivers in Milwaukee.
With Embiid missing a few months during the regular season, the Eastern Conference was considered a two-team race between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics.
The Bucks specifically had the (healthy) star power and depth to challenge the Celtics in the East and presumably in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, Doc Rivers and the Bucks lost in the first round to the Indiana Pacers after Giannis Antetokounmpo missed the entire series while co-star Dame Lillard was in and out of the lineup due to injuries.
It’s hard to argue that Boston hasn’t enjoyed a nice cakewalk through the NBA regular season and the playoffs. Are they a good basketball team? Well yeah, obviously – but when you’re playing teams like the Heat, Cavs, and Pacers to get to the finals then what did anyone really expect?
The regular season was sham because it was the teams mentioned above and a Philadelphia 76ers team playing without Embiid for half of the year.
Fun: Joel Embiid has averaged 27.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 24 games against the Boston Celtics over his career.
All-time loser energy but again, I guess that’s expected from the Boston rats.
The guy with the sign wasn’t the only one in attendance embarrassing themselves. As usual, Dave Portnoy and the Boston crew that is Barstool Sports were also in attendance leading “Fuck Kyrie” chants during the parade.
Why? Who knows.
Kyrie was in Boston for a total of 127 games over two seasons. His time with the Celtics was completely irrelevant and simply a “blip on the radar” – for everyone outside of Barstool Sports and their Boston following.
The Celtics didn’t win shit with Irving on the roster and again, just won an NBA Championship so it seems stupid to even acknowledge him, right?
Trust me. I love a good grudge and I can be as petty and as bias as they come but there’s a time and place for that. At a Championship Parade? No shot. Just think about if the 76ers or really, any Philadelphia sports team won a championship.
Is anyone acknowledging anything else besides our team? Are we drinking Barstool promoted High Noons or Philadelphia’s own (and better) Two Robbers Vodka Seltzers?
We all know the answers to both of those questions.
If you need a brain-cleanse, check out more on Two Robbers here >>
Honestly, this is what happens when your “star player” is also the most cringeworthy dude in the entire NBA.
I won’t get into it but you can read more about that right here >>
