i-95 sign reads Cenrtal Phila

New I-95 sign has brutal “Cenrtal Phila” typo

The Cottman Ave I-95 exit ramp has finally been reconstructed, along with brand new signage to direct drivers where they need to go. Unfortunately for both the city and its visitors, one of the new signs has a ridiculous typo on it.

This I-95 sign let drivers know they’re headed to historic “Cenrtal Phila”:

Guys, I know the Philly school system isn’t great, but what are we doing here?

Like the guy in the video said, this had to go through so many layers of review and approval, and somehow this was still missed. From design, to creation, to installation, I’m dying to know how many sets of eyes took a look at this and went, “Oh yeah, that’s perfect.”

There was definitely a guy who noticed but didn’t want to rock the boat and be the bearer of bad news. If I identify with anybody, it’d be that guy.

Leave it to Philly to fuck up something as basic as an I-95 sign. I love my city dearly, but sometimes it functions like somebody gave it a lobotomy decades ago. That’s its own form of endearing, but still.

I don’t know if there are any plans to fix the I-95 sign, but, honestly, I don’t think we should. This is a monument to weaponized incompetence only Philadelphia is capable of, and, in a way, that’s beautiful.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
