NFC East: Brandon Aiyuk names Eagles rival as top landing spot if 49ers trade him

It’s no secret that Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers are on shaky ground right now. He wants a new contract, they haven’t given him one yet, and in turn he hasn’t been present at practice and has been touring around talking to any podcast host who will have him.

While speaking on “The Pivot” podcast, Aiyuk was asked which teams he could see himself going to if the Niners don’t end up keeping him.

Brandon Aiyuk on teams he’d potentially go to:

“If not a Niners uniform probably a Washington Commanders uniform,” Aiyuk said. “If not a Washington Commanders uniform, probably Steelers uniform.”

Brandon Aiyuk did preface this by saying he thinks he’ll still be playing for San Fran come Week 1. Nevertheless, once a player starts naming other teams he wants to play for, he’s typically as good as gone.

Aiyuk’s relationship with Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is well documented, as the two played together at Arizona State. Aiyuk has made it pretty clear that he’d like to play with Daniels again, posting videos to his TikTok FaceTiming Daniels and telling him San Fran doesn’t want him anymore.

From the Philadelphia Eagles perspective, regardless if Aiyuk plays in San Fran or Washington next season, it’s still an issue. Stay with the Niners and they’re just as strong (if not stronger) of a Super Bowl contender as they were last season. Head east to Washington, he’ll join a young, up and coming team that the Eagles will have to deal with twice a year.

Adding Brandon Aiyuk to Washington’s offense would really elevate them and start putting that team on some people’s radars. Even with the addition of Aiyuk, I still think the Eagles are the superior team, but it certainly makes the NFC East race more interesting. I wouldn’t be shocked if Washington manages to surpass the Dallas Cowboys this season — especially if Jayden Daniels lives up to expectations.

It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out for Aiyuk. With training camp right around the corner, we’re going to get some clarity on it shortly.
