Beverly, 36, hasn’t been able to muster up any interest during NBA free agency. Probably because he throws basketballs at fans when he’s pissed off and isn’t very productive when he’s on the court.
According to Bev, he was either going to sign a vet minimum deal in the NBA, or sign this “historic” contract in Europe (even though Israel isn’t actually in Europe).
For an NBA player with 12 years of experience like Beverley, the veteran minimum salary is $3.3 million, similar to his earnings last season. This suggests that he likely received a more lucrative offer to play in Israel, possibly spanning multiple years.
Beverley concluded the previous season with the Milwaukee Bucks, following a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers. During that time, he posted averages of six points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, with a 36% success rate from beyond the arc.
Pat Bev made the announcement himself during the latest episode of his podcast.
Good for him, I guess. Living out in Israel doesn’t seem like the best choice nowadays, but hey, pay me millions of dollars and I’ll do damn near anything.
