WATCH: Carson Wentz slips and nearly gets injured on his way to Chiefs Training Camp alongside Patrick Mahomes

The NFL machine continues to roll through the Dog Days of Summer as several teams will begin training camp this week.

While it’s just training camp, football fans will get an appetizer on what their team will turn into over the next month and half before the start of the 2024 regular season.

For the Kansas City Chiefs, it is all about that three-peat and while the majority of focus is rightfully on Patrick Mahomes and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce, former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz will join Kansas City as Mahomes primary backup quarterback.

That said, the two Chiefs quarterbacks were seen walking in together, and if there were ever an video clip to sum up Wentz’s career, it would be him slipping and nearly getting injured before he even had the opportunity the field in Kansas City.

Carson Wentz’s near disaster slip

That looked awful, didn’t it? Luckily, he is okay, and it was rather funny to hear Mahomes say, “Are you kidding me?” directly into him telling the camera crew to post this.

Coincidentally, something similar and much more traumatic compared to this happened to another former Eagles quarterback. Back in 2013, Kevin Kolb, who was expected to be the Buffalo Bills starting quarterback, slipped on a mat on his way to training camp and was sidelined, at least for that practice, because of it.

Obviously, the Carson Wentz era ended very poorly in Philadelphia, but I always try to hang my hat on the fact that he was a huge part of what was eventually a Super Bowl winning season for the Eagles.

Wentz had a passer rating of 101.9 with 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 13 games for the Eagles in 2017 before his MVP campaign was cut short after getting injured against the Los Angeles Rams.

He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee as he dove for the end zone late in the third quarter and was sandwiched in between two defenders, setting the stage for Nick Foles to lead the Eagles to their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Say whatever you want about the guy as a person or a player, but that season was magical in 2017, and Wentz was a huge factor in a season that Eagles’ fans will remember for the rest of our lives.

What makes this incident today even more hilarious is the fact that former Eagles head coach Andy Reid will be coaching Wentz now. Talk about a full-circle moment. I could take you down a really insane rabbit hole of hypotheticals, but I think we’ve had our fun here. Go Birds!
