Howie Roseman Masterclass: Haason Reddick continues hold out, will not report to New York Jets training camp until he has a new contract
Haason Reddick skipped minicamp last month with the New York Jets as he continued his quest to secure a new contract before the start of the 2024 NFL season.
As team’s across the league are preparing to begin training camp this week, it appears Reddick’s holdout will continue for the foreseeable future.Â
Haason Reddick holding out as New York Jets begin training camp:
According to Adam Schefter, Reddick doesn’t plan to report to the Jets for the start of training camp today because he hasn’t gotten the contract he’s been looking for yet. In 2022, Reddick signed a 3-year, $45 million contract with the Eagles.
With 50.5 sacks over the last four seasons, fourth-most in the NFL, [Reddick] felt he had outperformed the deal. The $15 million average per year ranked 20th among edge players, according to ESPN’s Roster Management System. [ESPN]
That didn’t sit well with the Philadelphia Eagles, obviously.
Instead of dealing with Reddick and his contract demands, they moved him to the New York Jets for a 2026 third-round pick that could become a second-round pick if he plays 67.5% of the snaps and records at least 10 sacks in 2024.

Reddick is in the final year of his contract and is scheduled to make $14.5 million this season. The Jets apparently thought that he would be happy to play the final year of his contract and hit free agency. That clearly is not the case.
To make matters worse, the Eagles signed former Jets pass rusher Bryce Huff in free agency. Reddick was supposed to replace Huff for the Jets and now they are trying to convince him to show up to training camp without a new contract.
Brutal.
Haason Reddick will be fined a mandatory $50,000 per day during his holdout, according to the collective bargaining agreement. The fine can’t be waived.
