Phillies August Schedule

Phillies enter a season-defining month of August, scheduled to face only 2 teams with a losing record

The Philadelphia Phillies were just swept at home by the New York Yankees. They no longer hold the best record in baseball, and have watched their dominant lead in the National League and NL East dwindle after posting a 10-14 record in the month of July.

Even with the Phillies’ in a miserable slump right now, they remain one of the best teams in all of Major League Baseball. The Phillies are a half-game behind the Cleveland Guardians (65-42) for the best record in the MLB.

In the National League, the Phillies still lead the Los Angeles Dodgers by 2.5. games for the best record in the league. In the NL East, they hold a 6.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves.

Point being, this is a grueling 162-game baseball season. It always has been and teams tend to have a month where they play like shit and slump their way through the Dog Days of Summer.

Not to mention, we all know how easy the Phillies schedule was back in May, right? I literally wrote an article saying that I didn’t expect them to lose a single game.

I think they ended up losing one or two..?

Phillies ‘cake walk’ schedule in the month of May should catapult them to the top of the National League East standings >>

So yes, the Phillies need to get right quick, even more so with a 10-game road trip beginning tomorrow night in Seattle. The Phillies will only play two teams, the Marlins and Nationals, with losing records in August.

The month starts with a rough road trip and ends with six games against the Braves, and three a piece against the Kansas City Royals and Houston Astros.

Phillies 2024 August Schedule:

  • Mariners (57-53) – 3 Games
  • Dodgers (63-46) – 3 Games
  • Diamondbacks (58-51) – 4 Games
  • Marlins (40-68) – 2 Games
  • Nationals (49-60) – 4 Games
  • Braves (58-49) – 3 Games
  • Royals (60-49) – 3 Games
  • Astros (56-52) – 3 Games
  • Braves (58-49) – 3 Games

Yeah. This slump needs to end quick. With a 6.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves in the NL East, the last thing anyone wants is the Phillies entering the end of August in a close race for the NL East title and six games against the team trying to overtake them.

On top of that, I want home field advantage throughout the postseason, so when the opportunity arises, it’s important to keep beating the crap out of the Dodgers.

Luckily, Nick Castellanos ignites every August and has been trending upwards really since the start of June. Check out his numbers here – all we need is the rest of the lineup to snap out of their current funk.

Nick Castellanos might, but he certainly can’t do it alone >>

The final stretch of the 2024 MLB season begins tomorrow night in Seattle.
