Report: Eagles trade for Commanders WR Jahan Dotson, establish top receiving trio in the NFL
Rumblings around the NFL suggested that new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn wasn’t a big fan of WR Jahan Dotson. It seems Eagles GM Howie Roseman got wind of those rumors.
Per multiple reports, the Eagles have traded for Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks.
The #Eagles have agreed to terms on a trade with the #Commanders for WR Jahan Dotson and a fifth-round pick in the 2025 draft in exchange for a third-round pick and two seventh-rounds picks from the 2025 draft.

The Eagles clearly needed a third receiver to play alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith heading into the regular season. The team signed speedy WR Parris Campbell as a potential option, but he dealt with injuries throughout camp, leaving the WR3 job up for grabs.
Once Dotson was rumored to be available behind closed doors, Philadelphia became an ideal landing spot.
The former first-round pick had a productive rookie season in Washington, catching 35 passes for 523 yards and seven touchdowns in just 12 games. Dotson failed to build on that performance in 2023, recording just 518 receiving yards while starting all but one game in a pass-heavy offense.
At his peak, Dotson is a proficient route-runner with reliable hands who will now join Brown and Smith to form one of the NFL’s top receiving trios.
Dotson, 24, comes to Philly with two years left on his rookie contract (plus a fifth-year option) and is the second former Penn State star the Eagles have acquired this offseason, along with Saquon Barkley.
Jahan Dotson Scouting Report
Dotson is a very good athlete who is dangerous with the ball in his hands and has the long speed to take the top off defenses. He is also a very good route-runner, already showing an extended route tree and the polish to win on a variety of different routes at all three levels.
He also has natural hands that allow him to maximize his size. He is consistently comfortable extending away from his body on throws both high and low. This trait also shows up when working back to the quarterback, which allows him to come down with throws in traffic. — Bleacher Report
