Eagles Notes: Kellen Moore excited to have Saquon Barkley in his offense

When the Eagles shockingly signed Saquon Barkley to a big-money deal in free agency, nobody was more thrilled than new OC Kellen Moore.

Barkey is bringing not only his exceptional run game to Moore’s offense but his pass-catching ability, too.

“Saquon is a premier running back, first and foremost. We’re really excited about his ability to run the football,” Moore said during his introductory press conference. “We know the (other) aspects that make him great. It’s his ability to be a great pass protector, to be a receiver out of the backfield. Obviously, we’ve got to try to utilize him as much as we can.”

Kellen Moore leaned heavily on RBs Tony Pollard and Austin Ekeler during his time with the Cowboys and Chargers, and we expect to see more of the same in Philadelphia.

Combined with star receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smtith, the Eagles should be back in Super Bowl contention just as they were two years ago.

“Biggest thing that struck me is my first 7-on-7 huddle. You see A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Jalen Hurts. It’s not a bad group to be out there with,” Barkley said following his first OTA practice. “That’s not even including the offensive linemen.”

Since entering the league in 2018, Barkley has rushed for 5,211 yards (tenth in the NFL over that span) and scored 35 touchdowns.
