WATCH: Washington State WR Kyle Williams delivered a Tip Drill Masterclass against Texas Tech
Washington State’s Kyle Williams put on a clinic Saturday, giving wide receivers everywhere a masterclass on why you never skip the tip drill.
With just 31 seconds left in the first half, Washington State was holding onto a 21-10 lead over Texas Tech at Gesa Field in Pullman, Washington.
It was 1st-and-10 from the Red Raiders’ 21-yard line, and Cougar quarterback John Mateer decided to test the waters, lofting one toward the corner of the end zone where Williams was waiting.
Washington State WR Kyle Williams Tip Drill Masterclass
Texas Tech cornerback Maurion Horn managed to get a hand on the ball, tipping it into the air. Instead of it being a blown opportunity, Williams kept his cool and made the play look almost effortless, snagging the ball for a touchdown.
It wasn’t just a great catch—it was a moment of pure focus and while it was Williams’ only catch of the half, it was enough to give Washington State a commanding 27-10 lead heading into the locker room.
And if you haven’t seen the catch in slow motion yet, do yourself a favor.
The ball took an awkward bounce off Horn’s hand, but Williams tracked it like a pro shortstop fielding a bad hop and reeled it in. Highlight-reel material, for sure.
