Yikes: C.J. Gardner-Johnson reacts to Darius Slay’s podcast appearance with Micah Parsons

Well, can’t say we all didn’t see this coming.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson shared a cryptic post on his Instagram story Tuesday morning, seemingly in response to his fellow teammate Darius Slay appearing on a podcast with Cowboys star Micah Parsons.

Gardner-Johnson’s Reaction

The episode quickly went viral, featuring Slay and Parsons laughing about the latter’s feud with Gardner-Johnson. As one would expect, it rubbed many fans the wrong way.

Last week, tensions escalated when Parsons criticized Gardner-Johnson after he called out Saints quarterback and former teammate Derek Carr, following the Eagles’ road victory against the Saints.

“I don’t know who C.J. Gardner-Johnson thinks he is bro,” Parsons said last week on his podcast.

“We’ve been dealing with this cat for a while. I think Derek Carr has validated himself way before C.J. has ever done — in the most respectful way. Derek Carr was one the highest-paid quarterback, let’s be real.”

Gardner-Johnson clapped back on Twitter.

“Eight gonna bring the noise, eight gonna bring the energy, eight gonna bring all the trash talking that half the team is not doing,” Slay said yesterday about Gardner-Johnson.

“So he fulfill that need for us…You gonna talk, you got to back it up at some point in time. And if you don’t he know for sure the media gonna catch it, gonna catch all the attention and he got to be ready to answer every time.”

With looming concerns surrounding the culture in Philly, joining a podcast with a hated NFC East rival is bad for optics — especially after a disappointing 33-16 loss to the Bucs where Eagles defenders missed 15 tackles.

As the Eagles look to regroup, it will be interesting to see how these dynamics play out on the field (and locker room) in the coming weeks.
