Snap Counts: Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Week 4
Ah yes, just what every Philadelphia Eagles fan wants on a Tuesday afternoon following an embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the weekend.
Of course, I’m talking about snap counts, which might not seem exciting but when your football team is apparently coached by a bunch of morons, it is quite interesting as the greater Philly area continues to pass around blame for their football team’s slow start.
I know you’re dying to get into it so I won’t waste another second of your time. Let’s boogie.
Philadelphia Eagles Offense – Snap Counts

Parris Campbell was efficient and underwhelming. He caught all four of his targets, but they only amounted to 17 yards (averaging just 4.3 yards per catch). Still, he managed to punch one of those catches into the end zone.
If we’re being real, Campbell’s six targets, six catches, and 30 yards over three games isn’t exactly lighting up the stat sheet, but it’s still more production than Jahan Dotson, who has played an extra game.
Dallas Goedert made some tough catches, but also had a frustrating drop early on.
Johnny Wilson saw two targets but failed to haul either in and then left the game with a concussion.
I absolutely hate Saquon Barkley getting just 12 touches, regardless of how productive they were. Barkley racked up 84 yards on 10 carries and added 32 more yards on two catches, accounting for more than half of the Philadelphia Eagles’ total offensive yardage (51.1%).
In the tight end room, Grant Calcaterra and Jack Stoll split backup duties more evenly this time around, instead of Calcaterra getting a clearer TE2 role.
Remember John Ross? He made his first NFL appearance since 2021, logging a target and a catch after Johnny Wilson exited. A small step for sure, but notable given his long absence from the league.
Ben VanSumeren logged one snap—and no, it wasn’t a typo. The Eagles used him as a fullback early on in the game (lol) so that’s something to monitor moving forward…I guess.
Will Shipley played in the Eagles’ first offensive snap, but after that, he was relegated to special teams for the rest of the game.
Jordan Mailata hasn’t missed a snap since October 30, 2022.
The offensive line saw some shuffling when Cam Jurgens left briefly due to cramps. Landon Dickerson slid over to center, and Tyler Steen filled in at left guard.
The Ghost of Jahan Dotson: Despite leading all Eagles’ pass-catchers in snaps, he only saw four targets, which resulted in just two catches for a measly 11 yards. It begs the question: What’s going on here?
Question: Is Dotson underperforming, or is Jalen Hurts just not looking his way?
Philadelphia Eagles Defense – Snap Counts

Shoutout to the dawg Quinyon Mitchell for toughing it out and playing the entire game in the brutal Florida heat.
Nakobe Dean had a rough day. He logged plenty of snaps but missed a frustrating number of tackles, making it clear there’s still work to be done on his consistency.
After talking a ton of shit following the New Orleans game, C.J. Gardner-Johnson was horrible in Tampa, struggling with the heat and exiting early.
I say this every week. Too many snaps for Avonte Maddox.
It’s time for Cooper DeJean. He may not be “ready” in the eyes of Vic Fangio, but at this point, enough is enough.
Darius Slay had a rough outing as well, getting beat a few times and eventually leaving the game. Isaiah Rodgers stepped in as his replacement, but Slay’s day wasn’t up to his usual standard and he continued a bad Sunday on social media following the game.
On the bright side, Jalen Carter got plenty of attention from the Bucs’ O-line, drawing multiple blockers. It didn’t show up in the stat sheet, but his presence was still impactful.
Hang the banners: Josh Sweat finally broke through with a sack, his first since way back in November 2023. Not to be outdone, Bryce Huff also found his way onto the stat sheet with a solo tackle, his first and only contribution of the season.
Brandon Graham, meanwhile, just keeps going strong. The veteran had a tackle for loss (TFL) and a sack, showing that age isn’t slowing him down.
I never want to hear Nolan Smith, talk about “hitting people” on a football field when he does everything but that. Smith still has zero TFLs, sacks, or QB hits this season.
Trevor Booker logged his highest snap count of the year and led all Eagles’ defensive tackles with four tackles (two solo). He’s making a case for more playing time moving forward.
Speaking of new faces, Jalyx Hunt and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. both made their debut on the defensive side of the ball, getting their first NFL snaps.
