Flower Speech 2.0: How Nick Sirianni can become the savior for the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles season

What is Nick Sirianni’s role you may ask? Is this guy really the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles? Is he a mouth piece for Jefferey Lurie and Howie Roseman? Or is just a cheerleader on the sidelines? Oh wait how could I forget the most important label; the overseer of 4th downs.

He’s all of the above. And guess what? That’s perfectly fine, as the team enters into a much needed bye week, sitting at 2-2, with injuries at very notable positions. Moments like this are when the culture-setter style of head coach needs to stand out and make their presence known.

So, would the real Nick Sirianni please stand up!

How could we ever forget the Eagles head coach’s legendary speech in 2021, when the team was 3-5 at the start of his coaching tenure? Things were not looking great then, and Sirianni got roasted by fans all across the state for that speech. Little did they know, the team would end up rallying behind it and making the playoffs that year, not to mention the Super Bowl the very next year.

So, what the hell am I trying to say here? Well, there seem to be many problems right now for the Philadelphia Eagles. For one, half of the fanbase seems split on Jalen Hurts even being the right quarterback for the team. Another issue is that this defense may not have anywhere close to enough talent to compete at a high level. And to add to that, Vic Fangio’s scheme may be outdated… Also, Darius Slay is clowning teammates on Cowboys players ‘ podcasts, which is another thing.

With all of that said, I think Nick Siranni needs to have a team meeting of a lifetime and reestablish his five core values.

  • Connect: Force Darius Slay to stop being a bitch and apologize to all of his teammates, the fans, and most importantly C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
  • Compete: Adjust immediately to what the other team is doing and tell Fangio to throw that soft ass defense, the hell away.
  • Accountability: It’s time for everyone to look themselves in the mirror.
  • Smart Football: Tell Jalen Hurts it’s time to stop turning the ball over.
  • Fundamentals: Clean up the missed tackles and special teams mess.

All jokes aside, this is a way easier situation to clean up then I think Eagles fans are willing to admit. If Hurts stops turning the ball over at the rapid rate that he is, this offense is going to get back to being a top-three scoring unit in the league. They simply have too much talent not to reach those heights. AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Lane Johnson should all hopefully be back after this bye-week, and we’ll be off and rolling.

As for the defense, I doubt Fangio’s old, stubborn ass will change much schematically. However, playing Cooper DeJean over Avonte Maddox is a huge step in the right direction. A big part of the defense’s issues has been tackling and Maddox is hurting them severely in that department. Who knows, maybe he finds a way to unlock Nolan Smith, and even Bryce Huff on the edge.

To conclude this, I do believe a lot of the issues on this team are psychological. The antidote for that is Nick Siranni doing what he does best, which is brining a team together. You can say whatever you want about him, but he’s had great success doing it before. It’s only natural that when he’s needed most, he will deliver.
