WATCH: Tropicana Field roof gets completely ripped off by Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton touched down on land Wednesday night and it’s already caused devastating damage to the Florida coast. In particular, Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

With Category 1 strength and winds as high as 85 MPH, Tropicana Field had no chance to survive the storm. During the early hours of Thursday morning in the aftermath of the storm, video footage showed the roof of the Rays’ stadium completely torn off.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like this before. President Joe Biden called Milton the “storm of the century” and he wasn’t lying. Even when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, the Superdome was the safe haven for anyone who couldn’t evacuate the city. It still stands tall today, roof intact.

Tropicana Field is a shell of its former self now.

The storm is expected to die down over the next 24-48 hours as it goes through the state and exits off the Atlantic coast.
