Donald Trump and Kamala Harris try to sway Philadelphia voters with pro-Eagles propaganda
We’re just a few weeks away from voting day and both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are hard at work trying to sway the last undecided voters.
Over the past week or so, they’ve both turned their attention to Philadelphia — the biggest city in a pivotal swing state for this upcoming election. Like any good political strategist, their marketing campaigns revolved around the only thing anyone in this city actually cares about, sports. More specifically, our beloved Eagles.
On Monday, the Trump campaign was in Philly for a rally. While they were in town, they dropped this badass video of a Brian Dawkins hard-hit compilation to the classic 3 Doors Down song, “While I’m Gone.”
Not gonna lie, Donald Trump is getting me amped up right now
Not bad, Donny, Not bad.
As everyone knows, the only way to combat pro-Eagles propaganda is with pro-Eagles propaganda of your own. And that’s exactly what Kamala did.
During the lead up to the Eagles-Browns game on Sunday at The Linc, Harris volunteers were walking around the lots handing out slips that read, “Trump Has Never Eaten a Hoagie. Go Birds.”
Just incase their foot patrol couldn’t find you, Harris made sure that everyone in attendance knew her stance on the Eagles (and Donald Trump). The DNC continuously flew a plain over the tailgates, carrying a banner that read, “Go Birds. Sack Project 2025. Vote Kamala.”
This is not an endorsement of him, but I think Donald Trump took this round over Kamala. Every Eagles fan (including myself) immediately got fired up after watching his Dawkins video and probably watched it more than once.
Kamala’s strategy was good in concept, but she clearly wasn’t aware of the social dynamics at Eagles tailgates. Nobody wants to be bothered about anything aside from the Eagles at an Eagles tailgate. As a frequent tailgater myself, I can assure you that no one wants to think about the devastating reality of what this country is at the moment while tailgating. We’re all at an Eagles game to try get a reprieve from all the other bullshit.
I will say this about the Trump video, though — using sports as a way to court votes comes off as disingenuous. Mostly because he, and his voters, are pretty staunch believers that politics should stay out of sports. So using sports to push political rhetoric is just hypocritical.
At the end of the day, this kind of stuff probably won’t sway anyone from one side to the other, or even be a deciding factor for undecided voters. It’s just funny that of all the ways these two presidential candidates could’ve gone to get votes from Philadelphians, they chose to use the Eagles as a propaganda wing. Kind of genius to be honest. I respect it.
