New York deli’s Mets-themed “The OMG” sandwich with “Grimace Bread” is a culinary abomination
God, O God, why have you forsaken me? That’s what I’ve been shouting to the heavens after seeing that Mario’s Meats & Gourmet Deli is selling “The OMG” sandwich featuring “Grimace Bread” for Mets home games.
I don’t even know what to say… do Mets fans actually eat this?:

To answer the question in the tweet, no. I’m not going anywhere near that sandwich. Though I’m sure some Mets fans will.
Looks aren’t enough to deter those sewer creatures. Most of them look like they were conceived and/or born in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to begin with.
As disgusted as I am, I have to take some responsibility for this. My favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies, could have prevented this abomination from ever being created.
I’m sure I’ll have New Yorkers coming at me saying just that. Yes, I understand that this is the definition of hating from outside the club. And, yes, I know that it’s worse because this is the very team that kicked our ass in the NLDS.
Even so, you have to understand that this looks absolutely disgusting. I get that New York is meant to be a culinary capital, but what the fuck am I looking at here?
The sandwich would probably be phenomenal in and of itself. But that “Grimace Bread” gives me blue waffle vibes, and I simply can’t abide by that.
Also, isn’t Grimace purple? Why is the bread blue? Wouldn’t that just be Mets bread? I NEED ANSWERS NOW MARIO GOD DAMMIT.
I’m sure Mario is a great dude and makes great sandwiches. But, again, as The Liberty Line’s resident Sandwich Commentator I simply cannot abide.
“Only in New York,” they say. And, honestly, thank god for that.
