BurnerGate: Deshaun Watson’s hilarious and very fake Twitter accounts during the Browns vs Eagles game on Sunday
Last week, a couple of suspicious Twitter accounts popped up, seemingly connected to Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, going by the names Leroy Bickerstaff (@LeroyBickers4) and Vernon Pritchard (@VPritchs).
Watson’s antics are childish and pretty lame—but that’s not the focus here. We’ve already established that the Browns’ QB isn’t exactly winning any popularity contests.

Instead of diving into Deshaun Watson’s immature behavior or unearthing more about the burner accounts, let’s have some fun with the hilariously bizarre tweets from these two accounts before, during, and after the Browns’ narrow 20-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday.
Let’s start with this classic pregame gem. It actually dropped the day before the game:
Deshaun Watson…I mean pregame tweets from Vernon:
“Great weekend for 4 to be great.”
Funny? Sure. But posting a pic from Philadelphia just before the game?
Come on, is Watson really trying to be inconspicuous?
Then there’s this observation: How can Watson claim to carry the team when he hasn’t even topped 200 passing yards this season?
Seriously, does he think his team is that hopeless that a QB with a QBR of 21.7—ranking 31st in the league—can lead the Browns’ offense?
Halftime burner activity
Before we delve into a specific tweet, let’s recap: The Browns managed to block and return an Eagles field goal for a touchdown, tying the game at 10-10 instead of trailing 13-3 at halftime.
At halftime, Vernon Pritchard reassured “4 nation” that “we” would be in a better position soon. This tweet popped up during the game! Talk about a Kevin Durant-level distraction—it’s wild.
We’ve all seen athletes reacting immaturely to fans on social media during games; Kenneth Gainwell did it just last season. I’m not saying he was right, but if you’re going to tweet at halftime, at least own it with your real account instead of hiding behind a fake one.
I am not saying that Kenny was right for his DM, but if you are going to be active on social media at halftime, at least have the balls to do it from your own account, don’t hide behind a fake alias.
While Vernon was active pregame and during the game, Leroy took over the postgame commentary
I have to give Leroy some credit; Watson didn’t play atrociously in the second half, and penalties forced the Browns to settle for a field goal instead of scoring a touchdown to tie things up.
But let’s be real: both teams played poorly throughout the game. If Deshaun Watson wanted to truly lead his team, couldn’t he have orchestrated just one drive that ended in a touchdown?
Leroy also tossed out this interesting thought:
“To answer your question, Leroy, plenty of quarterbacks could’ve played as poorly as Watson did in the second half, and a good number likely would have fared better overall. Heck, even Jameis Winston might’ve done better!”
Gotta appreciate the originality there. It’s rare to see a burner account not throw shade at the coach, and targeting the left tackle? That’s a new twist for the burner account playbook.
To answer your question Leroy, there are a lot of quarterbacks that could “play like 4 did” in that second half, and a large percentage of them likley would have played better for four quarters. Hell, Jameis Winston probably could.
I love the originality of the tweet though, it is not often burner accounts don’t attack their coach. I am sure coming after the left tackle is a new one for the burner account history books.
Leroy wasn’t the only one throwing blame round after the game. Vernon was also active post-game as well.
After blaming Jedrick Wills for the loss, he turned his sights on the defense. Holding an offense featuring Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith to just 20 points? Apparently, that’s a major failure.
One might wonder if Watson should also play defense since he “carried” the offense so well.
Spoiler alert: Deshaun Watson is no Travis Hunter, and he’s definitely not swooping in to save the defense, sorry Browns fans.
Some things are just too easy to joke about. I mean, we should probably all take life advice from Deshaun Watson—because who wouldn’t want to improve their character with his guidance?
There were a few more tweets, but nothing quite matched the entertainment value of those.
One might ask, since he carried the offense, maybe Watson would play defense too since they were soo bad all game. Well, we got our answer, Deshaun Watson is no Travis Hunter, and he will not be coming to save the day on defense too. Sorry Browns fans.
Most recent activity from Vernon
More recent tweets from Vernon don’t center around the Eagles game, especially after Watson’s shockingly decent second-half performance of 11 completions on 12 attempts for 122 yards.
I came across one tweet that particularly tickled my funny bone: I’m pretty sure at least 20 teams have quarterbacks way better than Watson who would love to have Amari Cooper on their roster, including the team that actually picked him up.
