Report: Eagles will receive 2nd-round pick from Jets if Haason Reddick gets traded to NFC team

Eagles GM Howie Roseman always seems to have a trick up his sleeve.

When the team traded Haason Reddick to the New York Jets this offseason, they received a 2026 third-round pick that could turn to a second if certain conditions were met. At the time of the trade the two conditions were 1.) record at least 10 sacks AND 2.) play at least 67.5 percent of the defensive snaps in New York.

Reddick hasn’t come close to meeting any of those conditions, obviously. He hasn’t played a single down for the Jets this season and with Drew Rosenhaus now representing him, he’ll be seeking a trade before the deadline.

On October 1, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported that if Haason Reddick were to get traded from the Jets, the conditional third-round pick the Eagles received would turn to a second if, again, certain conditions were met in said trade.

Then on Tuesday of this week, she revealed what this condition is. If Reddick gets traded to an NFC team, the Eagles 2026 third-rounder becomes a second.

The Eagles GM does it again

Most of Howie’s moves from this past offseason have been hit or miss, but this was a savvy maneuver by the GM. Knowing Reddick’s asking price on a new contract was way too high, he knew there was a chance the Jets would never pony up. It was a slim chance, but here we are.

With the NFL trade deadline looming, I’m sure we’ll learn Reddick’s fate soon enough.
