Reality Check: Ditch the Doomsday Scenarios, here’s why there’s no reason to panic about the Philadelphia Eagles
You know it’s getting ugly in Philly when it’s mid-October, the Phillies are already in Cancun, and the 3-2 Philadelphia Eagles are getting dragged through the mud, mainly because their head coach turned his kids into “human shields” and jawing at Birds fans at The Linc last Sunday.
Honestly, there’s a hint of romance to it all for the real sickos out there, but overall, Eagles fans in general need to get their shit together. Well, at least a large majority of Eagles fans. Forget the ones on Twitter – anyone on that platform that spends 72+ hours complaining about the Birds after a WIN on Sunday is completely lost already.
For the rest of us, there’s hope. Here’s why…
Eagles could easily be 4-1 and atop the NFC East
Louder for People in the Back: The Eagles were one wide open pass completion away from beating the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. Saquon Barkley dropped the pass. Fine. Whatever. From there, they beat the New Orleans Saints (Shoutout Phans of Philly) then played in a muggy, disgusting post-hurricane Tampa without Lane Johnson, AJ Brown, and DeVonta Smith and took a loss before hitting the BYE.
Coming out of that BYE, the Birds beat the Cleveland Browns at home.
Now they have a 3-2 record. Human Child Shields or not, that’s just facts. Argue with your couch – which is exactly what I think actual Beat Reporters are doing since they are scared to ask Sirianni questions with kids at the podium. Cringe.
Ah and if you don’t agree with me. Then go ask Jason Kelce and his brother. They were talking about it on the latest episode of the New Heights Podcast. You might not believe me or TLL – but it’s hard to ignore when a few legends are also echoing it, right?
Shoutout to ME on the New Heights Podcast…lol
This isn’t to say that there aren’t issues with this version of the Philadelphia Eagles. Obviously, the play-calling could be better and Jalen Hurts needs to continue to protect the football and work on his internal clock to get out of the pocket.
The defense needs to remain on “full throttle” and get to the quarterback too.
Please read that again. I know it’s hard to read a full article and comprehend what anyone is saying on the internet these days but I don’t need to be screenshotting the paragraph above and making you look foolish on social media because you didn’t take the time to read.
There are problems. They just aren’t “doomsday” problems yet.
Philadelphia Eagles Next 4 Games:
Now that we’re all on the same page, I’m so confident that the Eagles will continue to prove the casuals wrong that I’ll dish out exactly what will happen over the next four weeks. The Eagles play 3 of 4 games on the road, starting this weekend at MetLife and ending in Dallas against the Cowgirls.
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants – WIN
The Giants offense has looked brutal without Malik Nabers but with him back I expect them to be one dimensional and throw the ball 30-40 times.
That’s not a recipe to win in this league especially when your QB is Daniel Jones. Nabers will get his..probably- unless he runs into the clamps from Quinyon Mitchell, which is definitely a possibility.
If Jalen Hurts and the Eagles win the turnover battle on Sunday at MetLife, this game shouldn’t be close. Eagles 27-17. I know the Giants and the rest of America will expect Saquon to be force fed but with an again banged up O-line and no Dallas Goddert, I expect the Eagles and Jalen Hurts to have another dominant week through the air.
Philadelphia Eagles at Cincinnati Bengals
Despite a 2-4 start for the Bengals, Joe Burrow has been playing on an MVP level. He’s posted a 12-2 TD/INT ratio while adding a 50+ yard TD run last week which we’ll assume is the longest of his career. This game is the Bengals “white out” which is super corny since this is the NFL and NOT College Football so screw it, we’ll take the Eagles in a shootout 30-27.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles
Jaguars, Doug pederson come to Philly. Trevor Lawrence and the Jags continue to prove that they are the worst team in the NFL this season. Blow out win for the Birds that could be the final nail in Doug’s coffin as the Jags head coach.
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
DALLAS WEEK ! Pay attention to my Twitter and Instagram like you should and then you’d see I have openly stated that the Eagles are going to clean sweep that shit show of a team over in Dallas.
Jerry Jones will be getting on his helicopter around halftime to leave that stadium where THE LIBERTY LINE boys will be causing havoc with Phans of Philly.
Go birds. Fuck Dallas. Fuck the rest of the NFC East.
