NFL Week 9 Schedule Flex: Jags-Eagles booted from SNF in favor of Colts-Vikings

We have a schedule update for NFL Week 9, with the league announcing today that the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Philadelphia Eagles game at Lincoln Financial Field will no longer be played in the NBC, Sunday Night Football time slot.

The NFL announced on Monday that the primetime game will now feature the Indianapolis Colts vs. Minnesota Vikings. The Jaguars-Eagles matchup has been moved to a 4:05 PM ET start on CBS.

NFL Week 9: Colts vs. Vikings on SNF instead of Jaguars vs. Eagles

Ouch. Listen, it never feels good to be flexed out of a primetime matchup, even more so when the two teams are Sam Darnold’s Minnesota Vikings and the Anthony Richardson led Indianapolis Colts.

I guess it makes sense though? The Jacksonville Jaguars, despite laying a 32-16 beatdown on the lowly New England Patriots in London on Sunday morning, are just 2-5 on the season. That’s not going to cut it if you want to be considered a marquee NFL franchise featured in a primetime spot.

The Jaguars aren’t the only one to blame. The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-2 on the season and currently in second place in the NFC East standings behind the Washington Commanders. Honestly, there’s a good chance they could be 5-1 if Saquon didn’t drop that pass against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.

Still, maybe the NFL watched Jalen Hurts and company in the first quarter this year? The results of the Eagles’ first drives of the game haven’t really been “attention grabbers” for a national audience.

Philadelphia Eagles opening drives this season:

  • Week 1 — 3 plays, -5 yards, INT
  • Week 2 — 4 plays, 19 yards, punt
  • Week 3 — 3 plays, -9 yards, punt
  • Week 4 — 3 plays, 2 yards, punt
  • Week 5 — 3 plays, 5 yards, punt
  • Week 6 — 4 plays, 17 yards, punt

It’s been tough to watch and when the Eagles are clicking, they are overly reliant on a “bail out” play from Jalen Hurts, which typically means a big play from AJ Brown or Saquon Barkley. If I could vote, I would probably play this game in the 1:00 PM timeslot, live from Hong Kong.

At the very least, let’s all just hope YouTube TV gives us the option to play a replay from the WNBA Finals on the multiview. At least that way, Trevor Lawrence won’t be the only female athlete competing that day. (Zing)

Question: Am I ‘misogynist’ because I don’t want YouTube TV adding WNBA games to my multiview experience?
