WATCH: George Pickens delivers a WWE-Style elbow drop in the middle of Giants vs. Steelers Week 8 Monday Night Football

George Pickens brought his trademark edge to the field on Monday night, pulling off another move that felt more WWE than NFL. The Steelers’ wide receiver has built a reputation for aggressive plays, and with Pittsburgh leading the Giants 26-18 late in the fourth quarter at Acrisure Stadium, he didn’t disappoint.

Here’s how it went down: Russell Wilson took a brutal sack and coughed up the ball, with Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke scooping up the fumble. But just as Okereke took off, Pickens and a few Steelers locked in on him. Well, sort of. From there, Pickens hit a Shawn Michaels style elbow drop from the top rope.

I must admit, the wrestling fan in me couldn’t help but smile when I saw this live, as the Steelers are handling the New York Giants, who I despise, due to being a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

George Pickens Elbow Drop

Pickens has caught some heat in the past for not always giving max effort, but after this fumble recovery, let’s just say he didn’t exactly blend into the background.

The Giants got the ball at Pittsburgh’s 37-yard line, primed to make things interesting. But they couldn’t turn the turnover into points, as Daniel Jones got sacked a few plays later and fumbled. The Steelers took advantage of the slip-up and held on to seal the win.

Pickens had quite the eventful night last night, as he had an awesome touchdown grab get called back due to not having both feet in bounds on top of this.

In a highlight-worthy moment just before halftime of Monday night’s Week 8 showdown, George Pickens looked like he’d snagged an incredible touchdown against the Giants. The Steelers wideout managed to get his right foot down twice in the back of the end zone, showing off his signature athleticism. But the refs ruled it incomplete — and here’s why: NFL rules demand both feet touch in bounds for the catch to count. One foot tapping twice? Not enough for the score.

Per the NFL rulebook, a forward pass is only complete if an in-bounds player catches the ball and then makes in-bounds contact with “both feet or any body part other than the hands.” So, even if a second foot doesn’t come down, a catch — including a touchdown — can still be ruled complete if an elbow, knee, or other body part touches in-bounds instead. Monday’s officiating drove home the point: that “second foot” has to be the other foot. Repeatedly tapping the same one? Not enough to secure the catch.

So, perhaps this play here could lead to some sort of rule change? This had to be incredibly frustrating from the Steelers perspective as well as the fans losing their minds over it.
