Sam Ersson dominant in first shutout of the season as Flyers blank Bruins in Boston 2-0

Samuel Ersson stood tall, Tyson Foerster broke the ice, and the Philadelphia Flyers finally notched a win in Boston, beating the Bruins 2-0 on Tuesday night. It marked the Flyers’ first victory at TD Garden since April 5, 2021.

Last night’s win also marked the Flyers first regulation win in Boston since October 6th, 2011, and their first shutout in Boston since January 2nd, 2006.

Samuel Ersson was dominant in Boston

Ersson was the star of the night, stopping 23 shots to secure his sixth career shutout and first of the season. His performance was highlighted by a heart-stopping moment in the third period when the puck slipped behind him after glancing off his skate. But the 24-year-old netminder managed to flop backward and keep it from crossing the line, preserving the lead.

Plenty of Chances for the Flyers Offense:

Philly had many chances to score in this contest, including a great chance by Bobby Brink in his first game back from being scratched. It was a great feed by Sanheim, and really nothing more Brink could have done. Unfortunately, great goaltending was just the theme of the game.

Emil Andrae tallies his first NHL point on Tyson Foerster Goal

Emil Andrae is making it clear: he deserves to be on the Flyers’ roster even when Cam York returns. It’s no secret that he’s already a step ahead of Zamula, and now he’s backing it up with solid play and meaningful minutes on the ice.

The 21-year-old Swede recorded his first career NHL point with a slick assist on Tyson Foerster’s goal in the second period, helping the Flyers take the lead 1-0.

Andrae’s blend of skill, toughness, and poise is exactly what the Flyers need on the blue line. As the battle for ice time heats up, he’s proving that he’s not just capable—he’s here to stay.

But it wasn’t just his offense that stood out—Andrae showed some serious grit too. He delivered a nasty left hook from the ground in a scuffle that would make even seasoned NHL vets take notice.

Joel Farabee Shuts The Door on Bruins

The Boston Bruins made a last-ditch effort to tie the game, pulling their goalie late and sending out the extra attacker. But the Flyers’ defense stood firm, weathering the surge and keeping the Bruins off the board.

Joel Farabee took advantage of the empty net with just 24 seconds left, firing the puck down the ice to clinch the win and bring the total to two goals on the night. It was a gritty, hard-fought performance that saw Philly finally earn a win in Boston for the first time since 2021.

Farabee’s empty-netter was the exclamation point on a strong defensive showing, as Philly held on and walked away with a 2-0 victory at TD Garden.

Next Up: Back Home Against the Blues

The Flyers play again Thursday back at the Wells Fargo Center when they host the St. Louis Blues at 7:00 pm.
