WATCH: Eagles Jordan Davis breaks out dance moves at practice to dodge a bee sting; if only that could translate to his pass rush
Eagles players have probably appreciated the very strange warm temperatures here in the northeast as of late. Even though bees and other insects have been out. As someone who is especially sensitive to these seasonal changes, it has been tough sledding for me, aside from the fact that it’s beautiful outside. So I can’t really complain about that negotiation with mother earth.
With that said, Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis learned firsthand during a practice session this week about how crazy these insects can be.
One bee ended up landing on the back of Davis, who was made aware by Milton Williams and what proceeded was honestly impressive considering the size and stature of the young Eagles nose tackle. Jordan Davis is listed as 6-foot-6, 326-pounds, and he simply broke it down to get that damn yellow jacket off his back.

As you can see after Davis’s initial shake didn’t seem to do the trick, he broke out the ole stanky leg that gave him better results. I can’t help but wonder how on earth a man of that size can move like that, but at the same time I feel especially frustrated that it hasn’t exactly translated on the football field.
So far in his career he has been nothing more than an early down run-stuffer, who doesn’t seem to have any pass-rushing ability. Which is a shame because Howie Roseman drafted him as high as he did in the 2022 NFL Draft, for the potential that he could become more. With just 10 tackles, and one sack in seven games this season, it feels more and more like that ceiling we once thought Davis had, simply doesn’t exist.
Who knows though, it seems Vic Fangio and company are finding ways to best utilize just about every player on this surging defense as of late, and it’s understandable why the veteran defensive coordinator doesn’t play Davis as many snaps. At the end of the day we’re trying to win football games and slow down or stop the opposing team’s offenses, so I understand it.
The part that really grinds my gears is that a player like Cooper DeJean can slide right into this defense in his rookie season and have success right away. Obviously DeJean appears to be a much more talented player and prospect, but both players were 1st round picks and the time and excuses are running out for Jordan Davis at this point.
On the bright side, the Eagles have an absolute monster of a defensive tackle in Jalen Carter, their linebacking corps seems to be very solid, and their secondary looks like the dominant unit on the defense. What better time than this Sunday at home in those sexy ass kelly green jerseys would it be for Jordan Davis to get on track?
