LASIK offers free surgery to NFL referees after horrible calls during Eagles vs. Commanders

The Eagles dominated the Commanders 26-18 on Thursday Night Football, but the players weren’t the only ones making headlines. The referees were genuinely atrocious in this contest, so bad, in fact, that LASIK felt the need to let fans know about their program offering free eye surgery to NFL referees.

LASIK saw how ridiculous the pass interference call on Cooper DeJean was and reminded everyone of the standing offer:

The officials also missed multiple facemasks, even picking up one of the flags. It was mind-numbingly stupid to watch at times, and fortunately, the Eagles were able to overcome such nonsense.

I can’t tell you how many times people have thought, “Wow, these refs are terrible. They need their eyesight fixed,” but I’m sure it’s in the tens of millions. How did nobody know that referees having the option to get their eyes fixed was even an option?

It’s a complete no-brainer. Your job is to see things happen and assess them accurately; why anybody wouldn’t want to have the best possible eyesight is beyond me. Any referee with glasses should get their eyes lasered or risk termination. I’m not even close to kidding about this.

Granted, there are some in the football world whose careers didn’t change much after undergoing the procedure. Jameis Winston was still ostensibly good at his job before he got LASIK despite the (obviously eyesight-related) mistakes and continued to do the same thing on the field post-op.

I won’t lie when I say I thought LASIK Jameis would be a top 5 QB in the league. If he could do that while barely distinguishing who his teammates are, imagine what he’ll do when he can actually see.

At any rate, officials in every major sport should be required to do it if they qualify. It’s either that or risk being replaced by robots.

AI will come for you soon enough, but at least put up a fight.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
