WATCH: Jameson Williams channels inner-Marshawn Lynch with signature touchdown celebration against the Jaguars
Jameson Williams put on a show Sunday, and it wasn’t just his speed on display. After breaking free for a jaw-dropping 64-yard touchdown, the Detroit Lions wide receiver paid tribute to an NFL legend, Marshawn Lynch, by replicating his iconic crotch grab as he leapt into the end zone.
It was a classic celly in what was a massive, blowout win 52-6 for the Lions over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Williams absolutely nailed the celly while probably hammering the final nail in Jags’ head coach Doug Pederson’s coaching tenure.
Jameson Williams with the Marshawn Lynch Celly:
Tough break for Doug Pederson…
His team was buried by the Lions and Williams’ hit him with the “hold my dick” celebration. That’s basically the perfect recipe for losing your job, right? I can’t believe Doug made it out of the locker room at halftime and then Williams did this? Good luck finding another gig, coach.
Doug Pederson responds to job status question following Jaguars 52-6 loss to Lions
On top of the unrest in the Jaguars locker room following that performance today against the Lions, Roger Goodell must be fuming. As everyone already knows, the NFL (No Fun League) doesn’t take too kindly to what they consider to be “over the top” celebrations like Williams’ above. My guess, Williams will probably be fined just like he was earlier this season when he got hit with a $14,069 ticket for dunking the football over the goal post crossbar after he scored.
Jameson Williams Dunk Celly:
Irony: NFL engagement farming the Williams touchdown and celly with a post on social media and then hitting him with a fine. Go figure.
Anyways, Marshawn Lynch’s celebration has become one of the most memorable moves in NFL history, and I’m personally happy that players still love breaking it out, knowing that it will likely come at a cost.
