WATCH: Unoriginal Desmond Bane copied gun-themed celebration straight from the Ja Morant playbook, Caleb Martin left disgusted
The Memphis Grizzlies have all the talent in the world, but antics like the ones we saw Wednesday night against the 76ers make it hard to take them seriously.
Desmond Bane, one of their “leaders”, went viral for a gun-themed celebration after sinking a three-pointer over Caleb Martin in the second quarter, ripped straight from the Ja Morant playbook.
It’s clear that Desmond Bane is nothing more than an unoriginal, “Reek” type of guy (shoutout Game of Thrones) on the court without his buddy Morant, who’s sidelined with a hip injury, stealing the spotlight.
Cringeworthy: Desmond Bane’s Machine Gun Celly
Ja Morant has a well-documented history with guns—both on and off the court. After earning multiple suspensions for flashing firearms on social media, you’d think he might’ve learned his lesson.
Yet, even after his punishments, Morant been seen doing gun-themed celebrations during games. Now, I guess his backcourt partner Desmond Bane is picking up where he left off? We’ll see how that works for him and the Grizz moving forward.
Ja Morant and his obsession with guns:
- Apparently Ja Morant thought it would be a smart idea to go on Instagram Live from the strip club and flex his gun
- Ja Morant’s camp now claims the gun in the second video on Instagram Live was a fake and just a toy
- Ja Morant yet again, appeared on Instagram Live with a gun and is now suspended from all NBA, Grizzlies activities
Look, I definitely don’t care about how athletes celebrate on the basketball court. I just wish that Desmond Bane would actually do something about it and get a real weapon.
I think all Sixers fans watching the Grizzlies drain a season-high 19 three-pointers last night while our guys fell to an NBA-worst 2-12 on the season had everyone thinking that they were better off standing in front of a firing squad as Bane indicated.
At least the celly finally got a positive reaction from the Philadelphia 76ers and more specifically, Caleb Martin, who had himself a game defensively with three blocks and a steal on the night.
Caleb Martin wasn’t thrilled with Desmond Bane’s Gun Celly:
Unfortunately, for Martin and the rest of the 76ers, their struggles continued from beyond the arc. Martin only managed two points, but hey, at least played like someone who cared by fighting for loose balls and giving the kind of effort this team desperately needs, right?
Regardless, the 76ers dropped another game in Memphis, falling 117-111 to a shorthanded Grizzlies squad. It’s was game that perfectly summed up the mess this season has become for the 76ers, who are now 2-12 and sit in dead last in the NBA standings.
76ers lose in Memphis 117-111, fall to a miserable 2-12 on the season
With a miserable record and nightmare start to the season, the 76ers are running out of excuses. Embiid finally looked like himself, and McCain continues to shine, but the injuries, bad rotations, and overall lack of execution are killing this team. Sunday’s game feels like another must-win—not that there’s much room left for anything else.
