Bills Fan Snowball Field Goal Block

WATCH: Bills fan attempts to block 49ers field goal with a snowball at Highmark Stadium

Last night, we witnessed something that’s rarely seen in the NFL these days. A Buffalo Bills fan attempted to block 49ers field goal attempt with a snowball launched from the seats at Highmark Stadium.

Honestly, I watched that video more times than I’d like to admit.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out where the snowball even came from. It looks to enter the frame from the top left of the screen but wouldn’t that make the throw itself an absolute rocket from the stands?

Was Josh Allen up there? I guess it came from an upper level. Plus, there were reports of the snow being super compact last night in Buffalo which makes it possible (I think) but either way, it’s still impressive to not only get it between the uprights, but to nearly hit the football out of the air.

So close, yet so far….

Don’t even start. I’m sure most of you are now rolling your eyes at me trying to figure out where the snowball was launched from and now you’ve moved onto questioning me about whether I actually believe a snowball could block a 33-yard field goal attempt.

Under circumstances, I would probably agree with you, but this is Buffalo.

These animals in the self-proclaimed “Bills Mafia” were basically born in the snow. They absolutely love it and even the Bills organization convinced them that $20 and a hot meal is worth hours of labor shoveling snow out of the stands at Highmark Stadium was a good deal.

Enough is Enough: Buffalo Bills fans need to stop shoveling snow at Highmark Stadium

Bills fans aren’t just playing in the snow—they are one with it. That’s literally the fans snow in the stands so if they want to throw it or create some type of “super snowball” that on impact, could change the trajectory of a field goal kick, then who are we to doubt them?

Pretty sure there’s nothing in the NFL rulebook about at least attempting to make contact with the football. Not that I read it cover-to-cover. I don’t even think NFL officials have read the rulebook, ya know?

The NFL Rulebook has to be the least-interesting book outside of the U.S. Tax Manual so please, go ahead, dig through it if you want. I’m willing to bet good money you’re not going to find a “snowball interference” clause anywhere inside it.

I will say, for all the snowball talk here in Philadelphia regarding a drunk Santa Claus from back in the 60’s, the fact that Bills fans always seem to get off scandal free is pretty annoying. Maybe when you’re in cahoots with the organization and spend your free time literally shoveling snow out of the stadium yourself, you get a pass? Not sure. Doesn’t matter.

Last night in Buffalo could have been the perfect litmus test for how the NFL would handle “snowball interference”. If some fan managed to pull this off and force the NFL to address the ultimate absurdity, the fallout because of it would have been incredible content.

Imagine the chaos if a perfectly timed snowball from the stands deflected the ball mid-flight, sending it veering off course. It would be legendary. A rule would almost certainly follow, but until then, wouldn’t we all want to see it happen…just once?

Honestly, anyone ever manages to connect on a snowball to prevent a field goal from going through the uprights, the block should count. It’s not just a fluke—it’s artistry. Let’s get wild, embrace the chaos, and see what happens.
