The Jameis Winston Experience: Franchise Record in passing yards is not enough to overcome the Broncos

Jameis Winston is the ultimate chaoticly good quarterback, and that’s why he should be everyone’s favorite player who doesn’t rock your squad’s jersey.

The dude is the human embodiment of “any given play.” One second, he’s threading a no-look dime through three defenders, and the next, he’s tossing a pick-six that makes you question if he’s working undercover for the other team.

He’s like your buddy in Madden who only throws deep balls—no game plan, no fear, just vibes. Jameis plays football like a drunk uncle at a Thanksgiving turkey bowl, and honestly, its one of the most fascinating things to watch on a football field across the NFL this season.

The Jameis Winston Experience is truly remarkable, and every week, he proves that he is a must-see television when he is the starting quarterback.

On Monday night the Cleveland Browns fell to the Denver Broncos 41-32 but despite the loss, Winston threw for nearly 500 passing yards and broke the single-game franchise record for passing yards against the Broncos completing 34/58 for 497 yards with four touchdowns.

However, he also had three interceptions, two of these picks were returned for touchdowns. Winston had a pick-six thrown to linebacker Nik Bonitto late in the first half.

With his team down by two in the final two minutes, Winston threw another pick-six, this time to Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian, which ultimately sealed the game.

Man, this guy just never fails to deliver hilarious and remarkable interviews and statements no matter Win or Loss. The turnovers ruined what was a career game for Jerry Jeudy. In his first revenge game against the team that drafted him, Jeudy had nine catches for a career-high 235 yards and a touchdown. Before Sunday, Jeudy’s career high in any game was 154 

The defeat clinched the Browns’ losing season. They fell to 3-9 and will head to Pittsburgh on Sunday for a divisional matchup. My takeaway from this game is that Jameis Winston is great for the NFL and is absolutely a QB1.

While we are clearly a Philadelphia sports blog here at TheLibertyLine, all of us here are huge Jameis supporters, and if it wasn’t for the franchise quarterback himself Jalen Hurts, we would all be rooting for Howie Roseman to sign Winston onto the roster at the very least.

With that said though, we have much higher standards here in Philadelphia as we are preparing for a hopefully long run this NFL post season.

Regardless, I’d have to imagine there will be quite the market for Mr. Winston’s services this offseason. He has proven that while he may be inconsistent, he has a very nice arm, and is an absolutely dynamic leader that can rally even a team as down bad as the Cleveland Browns.
