Deion Sanders Jr. reveals shocking information about Heisman Winner Travis Hunter receiving no money from Colorado NIL

With the new age of college sports, it is no secret that athletes are cashing in like never before on NIL deals. It feels like the Wild West. Everyone has been chasing the bag and really, no one can even blame the players for it. The “Prime” (pun intended) example of this would be Deion Sanders and the University of Colorado.

Leave it to the Buff’s two-way phenom and Heisman Winner to completely flip the script.

Deion Sanders Jr. revealed that Travis Hunter hasn’t taken a single dime from Colorado’s NIL collective.

Yes, you read that right-zero dollars, NONE.

Certainly a head-scratching decision from the best college football player in the country, but when you hear why you should think otherwise.

Deion Sanders Jr. dropped a major nugget during the latest episode of the “Zero 2 Sixty” podcast, which aired on Monday.

He shared that Hunter doesn’t take any money from Colorado’s NIL collective. Not only that, but Hunter also uses the money he gets from endorsements to contribute back to the collective, making sure his teammates get paid.

Wrap your head around that—this guy’s not just skipping the free cash; he’s also giving back so everyone else can benefit. That’s next-level leadership.

Deion Sanders Jr. on Travis Hunter’s NIL case

“You know he receives no NIL from the collective? You know he’s one of the biggest donors to the collective, meaning he’s paying a lot of other people’s NIL on this team,” Sanders Jr. said. “So, he’s actually paying a lot of guys on the team. He’s paying at least 10-15 guys’ NIL on the team. He’s donating his own money.”

On top of that, Sanders Jr. also mentioned that Hunter paid for over 50 members of the Colorado football program to attend the Heisman Trophy Ceremony.

To be clear: The Colorado collective is not some shady operation that just doesn’t deliver on its promises. They are supporting the Buffs and making sure everyone has a seat to eat at the table. Hunter’s approach is different than most athletes. It is not about the money grab for him, likely because he knows he will have a very successful professional career but regardless, you can’t argue that the result is building something bigger.

This move says a lot about the culture Deion Sanders is building in Boulder. It’s not just about the wins, although I’m sure he would gladly take a few more of those too- it’s about creating a culture with a specific mentality in his locker room.

Travis Hunter’s not just playing for a check; he’s playing for a legacy. And let’s be honest, when your coach is a Hall of Famer with enough bling to make a rapper jealous, you’re learning from the best.

While College Football players are out there worried about securing the bag, Travis Hunter’s securing the brand and everyone should follow suit.
