Jalen Hurts, Defense lead the Eagles over Packers 22-10

The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off their playoff campaign in style, grinding out a 22-10 victory over the Green Bay Packers in front of a roaring Lincoln Financial Field crowd on Sunday night.

Jalen Hurts Shakes Off Rust, Delivers When It Counts

After missing the final two games of the regular season due to a concussion, Jalen Hurts made his much-anticipated return. The Eagles quarterback wasn’t flashy—throwing for 131 yards and two touchdowns—but he was effective, showing no hesitation as he guided the offense.

Jalen Hurts started hot, completing his first six passes, including an 11-yard touchdown to Jahan Dotson just three plays into the game.

While there were some rocky moments in the middle—he missed seven straight passes at one point—Jalen Hurts steadied the ship when it mattered most.

The highlight was a perfectly placed 24-yard strike to Dallas Goedert in the third quarter, capped by Goedert bulldozing three defenders on his way to the end zone.

Defense Dominates, Zack Baun and Darius Slay Shine

Philadelphia’s defense set the tone from the opening kickoff. Oren Burks knocked the ball loose from Keisean Nixon, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. pounced on it to give the Eagles prime field position. Hurts capitalized with his touchdown to Dotson, and the defense never let up.

Darius Slay made a jaw-dropping interception in the second quarter, and Zack Baun added another, reminding everyone why he’s an All-Pro.

Jordan Love was under constant duress, throwing three picks and struggling to find any rhythm. The Eagles’ pass rush added two sacks, and the unit forced a turnover on downs late in the game to seal the win.

Saquon Barkley, Dallas Goedert Deliver in the Clutch

Saquon Barkley, the NFL’s leading rusher, made his playoff debut for the Eagles and didn’t disappoint. He racked up 119 yards on 24 carries, providing the steady ground attack that has been the backbone of Philadelphia’s offense all season. Barkley’s ability to keep the chains moving allowed the Eagles to control the clock and keep the Packers on their heels.

Goedert, meanwhile, provided the game’s signature moment. His 24-yard touchdown catch was a mix of finesse and brute force, as he stiff-armed his way through three defenders to reach the end zone.

Packers Stumble Amid Injuries and Turnovers

For the Packers, it was a night to forget. Love threw for 212 yards but was intercepted three times, including a game-sealing pick by Quinyon Mitchell with under two minutes to play. The Packers also suffered a slew of injuries, losing receivers Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed, as well as key offensive linemen.

If anything, the lone bright spot for the Packers was running back Josh Jacobs, who bulldozed his way to 81 yards and a touchdown. His 31-yard run in the third quarter showcased his toughness, but it wasn’t enough to spark Green Bay’s sputtering offense.

What’s Next for Philly?

With the win, the Eagles advance to the divisional round and will face either the Buccaneers, Vikings, or Rams, depending on how the rest of Wild Card Weekend plays out.

Injuries and Updates

  • Eagles: Linebacker Nakobe Dean exited with a knee injury in the second quarter and did not return.
  • Packers: Lost multiple key players, including receivers Romeo Doubs (concussion) and Jayden Reed (shoulder), as well as offensive linemen Elgton Jenkins (stinger) and Josh Myers (leg).

Up Next:

  • Eagles: Await their opponent for next week’s divisional round.
  • Packers: Their season ends in disappointment after a 10-win campaign.

The Eagles have sent a message to the rest of the NFC: with Jalen Hurts back, Barkley running wild, and their defense suffocating opponents, they’re a force to be reckoned with this postseason.
