WATCH: Ja Morant’s Poster Dunk on Victor Wembanyama – The Best Dunk That Never Counted
On Wednesday night Ja Morant delivered what might be the dunk of the year in San Antonio, but there’s a slight catch-it didn’t even count.
When it comes to throwing down absolutely insane posters that do not count, ALMOST Morant might be the greatest of all time. All jokes aside, I love Morant’s attitude and aggression at the rim. He is going for the poster and highlight reel regardless of who is in the way.
In the Memphis Grizzlies’ clash with the Spurs, Morant drove down the wing late in the 4th quarter, with a foul being called while Ja was still near the 3-point line, making the play essentially dead. But what happened after was just pure magic.
Either ignoring the whistle or not hearing it (like myself and thousands of others watching the game), he charged toward the rim with full intensity. In his way, though, was no other than 7’3 “or 7’4” behemoth Victor Wembanyama.

With an unbelievable display of pure athletic ability, Morant took flight and threw down one of the nastiest posters I have ever seen on potentially the best rim protector and shot blocker the game has ever seen.
The frame placed around this highlight is that it “did not count,” which is only true because San Antonio’s Stephon Castle got whistled for jostling Morant a fraction of a second before the dunk, the referee pointed to the sideline, and there is no official record of a field goal attempt in the books.
This dunk that didn’t even count is also rising alert to Ja Morant’s true potential as a superstar and how the Memphis Grizzlies are a legitimate threat in the West.
Stephen A Smith shares his thoughts on Ja Morant after the poster attempt:
.@stephenasmith says the world "better look out" for Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies this season 👀

"A taller, slightly bigger elevated version of Allen Iverson. That's the athleticism that Ja Morant brings to the table." 😤 pic.twitter.com/ByET54eIhY
While, yes I agree that Ja Morant is an absolute athletic freak and one of the most exciting players we have ever seen, acknowledging him as a bigger and more athletic Allen Iverson is a stretch.
