Grease The Poles: City of Philadelphia details public safety preparations for NFC Championship Game on Sunday

The city of Philadelphia has started preparations to institute “public safety measures” ahead of the NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and Commanders on Sunday at 3 pm.

Quick Message from Mayor Cherelle L. Parker:

“As we get READY for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game we want to remind everyone to stay safe…let’s thank all the city workers who are working around the clock to make sure the City is safe, clean, and ready for the big crowds at the Linc on Sunday! Go Birds!”

Nice. Just make sure Mayor Parker isn’t leading the city of Philadelphia at an Eagles pep rally after her viral moment from earlier in the week. No need to mess things up this close to game day, ya know?

Side Note: Do NOT ask Mayor Parker to do the “E-A-G-L-E-S” Chant

City of Philadelphia: Public Safety Measures

Beginning Thursday, January 23, residents and businesses may begin to see “Temporary No Parking Signs” along the South Broad Street corridor and around City Hall.

The “No Parking Zone” will go into effect on Saturday, January 25 beginning at noon and vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours may be relocated.

There will also be temporary parking restrictions around Cottman and Frankford Avenues in Northeast Philadelphia and around S. Broad Street in South Philadelphia.

The “No Parking Zone” in these areas will go into effect on Sunday, January 26 and vehicles parked in these locations during posted hours may be relocated.

If you believe your car has been relocated, call the police district of the area where your car was parked.

City of Philadelphia: Possible Road Closures

At the conclusion of Sunday’s game, temporary traffic closures may be put into place to maintain public safety at the Sports Complex District, and in the vicinity of City Hall and surrounding Center City streets between 13th and 15th Streets and Arch and Lombard Streets.

Travel delays can be expected, and motorists are advised to avoid the area by using alternate routes and allow for extra driving time when traveling in the vicinity.

Please follow all direction of public safety officials, posted signs, detours, and traffic control devices.

City of Philadelphia: Public Transportation

For those attending the NFC Championship Game on Sunday and planning on taking public transit, SEPTA will add extra service on the Broad Street Line. Express trains depart Fern Rock Transit Center every 10 minutes from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

PA State Rep and assumed SEPTA Shill, Ben Waxman, decided to chirp Crossing Broad’s Kyle Pagan for pointing out the company’s blatant incompetence
