Eagles bar in Manayunk fires back after being labeled a “Commanders Bar”
It’s Championship weekend in Philadelphia, we don’t want anyone aside from Eagles fans at our bars. One beloved bar in Manayunk found itself at the center of a controversy when it was mistakenly listed as a “Commanders bar” on Washington’s team website.

The Bayou Bar & Grill on Main Street has long been a haven for Eagles fans. So when owner Joe Abruzzo learned about the mix-up, he couldn’t believe it.
“At first we thought it was a joke because people started calling,” Abruzzo shared. “We bleed green here. My dad’s probably rolling in his grave thinking they’re calling a guy from Fairmount a Washington Redskins fan.”
Accidentally calling them the Redskins — you know this guy is a true blue blood Eagles fan
The Bayou has a deep history with the NFL. As one of the first local spots to carry NFL Sunday Ticket, the bar has shown plenty of games over the years. However, when it comes to team loyalty, Abruzzo makes it clear: “No Commanders fans are even allowed in. As a matter of fact, don’t come by. You’re not allowed in.”
Eagles Fans Prepare for NFC Championship
With the Eagles heading into this weekend’s NFC Championship game, the energy around the city—and at the Bayou—is electric. Fans are gearing up to cheer for the Birds, and the loyalty in Philadelphia is palpable.
Meanwhile, city officials are preparing for the possibility of another victory celebration. When asked about the infamous pole-climbing tradition, Managing Director Adam Thiel pleaded for fans to reconsider.
“Grease or not grease, please don’t climb the poles. If you break the poles, that costs money we could spend on other things,” Thiel remarked.
As the Birds take the field, places like the Bayou Bar & Grill remain at the heart of the city’s fan culture. Whether you’re watching the game in Manayunk or at the Linc, one thing is certain: Philadelphia is all in for the Eagles.
